Message from the Mayor
June 17, 2011
To all Thurston Residents:
I just wanted to give you a quick update. You will start seeing some work done in the Village in August thanks to the Neighborhood Revitalization Grant and the people who worked to help us receive it.
As you may have noticed, engineers have completed the survey along Main Street for the new sidewalks. Also, the water meter pit inspection is close to being complete. There will be storm drainage lines installed with some refurbished catch basins along with a few new catch basins.
I would like to remind everyone how much expense there has been with our catch basins. We need to make sure we do not put bottles, cans, toys, or any other material in the catch basins. These cause blockages and end up costing the Village thousands of dollars to repair. This money could go to other projects we feel need to be done. Also, we do not permit parking your vehicles on them. In the fall, please bag your raked leaves. Do not pile them toward the drains. It is very expensive to keep these clean and flowing properly. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
The park renovation should be under way sometime in August, also. I am looking forward to having safe playground equipment for the children to enjoy. The equipment we have now is very outdated. The new playground will also help put a “new face” to the Village.
You can always keep up to date with Village business by reading the Town Crier or visiting our website www.thurstonohio.com. Also, you will soon be able to pay your water/sewer bill by credit card or check debit online or by phone. More information will follow once those services are in place.
Mary M. Boring, Mayor
